New Apostolic Exhortation

The Joy of the Gospel

Pope Francis released his first Apostolic Exhortation on November 24, 2013. The english version is now available for download. The title of the document is Evangelii Gaudium, which translates as The Joy of the Gospel. The official PDF version of the document is 224 pages so it will take some time to read and review what the pope has to say in the document. As is the case with this type of document, it is the fruit of the 2012 synod of bishops that discussed the new evangelization. I believe this will be an excellent gift at the end of the Year of Faith.

In reading the first few pages, it appears to be an excellent document on the urgent need to proclaim the Good News in today's world. As we know from other publications, interviews, and comments the pope has made, the world has been terribly wounded by Sin and is in need of healing. If my guess is correct, he will propose Jesus Christ as the source of that much needed healing.

I am looking forward to reading this document and will try to develop a full review in the coming days.

Happy Thanksgiving

As always, the proclamation of the Gospel is free of charge and it is highly encouraged that everyone share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Always remember, however, that it is a sin to bear false witness and to steal. When proclaiming the Gospel, always give credit where credit is due.
